Annie ~ A Beautiful Life in Easton
I enjoy going downtown and that is the first place I go when I need a gift or a little something for someone. The shops have always made me so happy! Every one of them that have come and sadly gone…but I will patronage all! Easton has been my home for 55 years. One summer, as a young adult, I worked downtown with my Aunt Marie at the Spring Garden Children’s school in the little space next to the original YWCA. My mom dropped me off at 6AM! I would take my 1/2 hour lunch at the fountain in the circle with a hotdog and soda from the Orrs store beverage counter !!!! After work I’d walk home to Washington street. My mom, her sisters and our Italian/Sicilian family always attended heritage day, the Lebanese festival, the farmers market and of course traveled many times around the circle when learning to drive!!! It was a right of passage if you could drive around downtown’s circle !!!! When I married and had my son/daughter, Crayola was a favorite spot to spend several hours. Each year we’d purchase our family passes. So much fun! My daughter, now 16, has enjoyed going downtown with me since being in a stroller! Now we love the arts, State Theatre of course, Easton Yoga, Nature Nurture Center, Sigal Museum(which originally I purchased many prom/bridesmaid dresses from) great shops, the indoor/outdoor markets and the restaurants ! Sette Luna is a favorite! I wanted to express all of this because this has been and continues to be my town, our town. We love it! We appreciate all that Mayor Panto has done and many many others too, who also love this town and want to see it thrive. I am very grateful for this! I love love the new arch at the top of Northampton Street especially with ‘downtown’ and ‘westward’ . I am ‘westward’ that is where I grew up!
